TEARific DEEDS

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ

Kolya BorozenniyAs summer approaches and we anticipate the privilege of once again spending time with the “children of our hearts”, we can’t help remembering some of those that the Lord has already graced our lives with.

Kolya Borozenniy is the second glimpse into the gifts we share from our Christmas “pyramid of love”. As Kolya proudly made all the announcements during a recent performance at the Pochinkovskaja Orphanage in Pochinok, Russia, we were amazed at this small lads professionalism and manner as he went on to even dance in several of the small productions.

The next few days of the mission trip found several of the team members building a close relationship with Kolya. Kolya sharing his love through his art; and his art through his love!Gods’ love being shared through their hearts slowly built the trust that allowed him to open up and share a small portion of his own.

“I am in the 3rd grade now and my Mom brought me here 3 years ago because I was having trouble at my other school”. My Mom is not permitted to visit me anymore because she had left me alone too many times before and I was always hungry.”

The Superintendent of the Orphanage filled in the blanks by telling us how they had been called by concerned neighbors on his last visit home during the winter holidays. When they found him, he had to be immediately taken to the hospital where he remained for many days because of the malnutrition and complications the starvation had caused.

Now safely at the orphanage, he continues to smile in spite of his past pain. “I like it here,” continues Kolya, “although I miss my younger brother, Hya. He still lives with my Mom, but I think he will be placed in an orphanage like me before long.”

“I love swimming, the beach, and riding bicycles even tho I don’t get to do them very often. I really enjoy Having fun in the gym with a few of his friends. performing and announcing, but I would like to be a big truck driver when I grow up so I can see other places.”

With one of his beautiful smiles, he runs off to play, leaving us with a permanent imprint of yet another heart for TEAR’s “Family Album” of love.
