Local to Global Initiative

The Local to Global Initiative (L2G) is an answer to a serious need that the evangelical Christian churches in Russia face today.

Since the fall of communism in the former Soviet Union in the early 1990's, churches teaching the Truth of the Word of God have spread across the nation faster than ever before. Despite generations of fear and intimidation, people have begun to step out in faith as babes in Christ.

However, as the evangelical Christian churches in America know all too well, conversion without discipleship is not indicative of spiritual growth. Read what Sergei Debelinsky, President of Ukraine Independent Baptist Churches Union, has to say about the conundrum the Russian churches face today:

“Today it is a time when we are having many challenges before us how to run a church and a worship service. Today many churches have a same question like the four lepers from the Bible in the II Kings 7:3 saying: ‘Why sit we here until we die?’ Ten more years and half of our churches in Ukraine could be closed, if we continue doing what we are doing now.”

Sunday School, as taught in Allan Taylor’s book The Six Core Values of Sunday School, is the very mechanism by which these people can learn to reach out to their communities, teach individual Bible studies that are pertinent to age groups, and minister to families and individuals based on where they are in life.

Most in ministry would agree that it’s a difficult, if not impossible, task to undertake effectively without a long-term strategy.

TEAR has undertaken the extensive mission of translating Allan Taylor’s book into the Russian language for the purpose of teaching these lead ers what the strategy is and how to develop it in their own churches.

These Russian Pastors are now seeing a great need for something more to help their churches grow, to help their congregations deepen their walk, and to produce leaders within the church to do ministry. We must try to preserve that which has already begun. We believe God’s tool to do that is initially through this book.

Since TEAR has had the opportunity to translate and print the books in Russia, the cost has been slashed to only $4.00 per book without jeopardizing quality. Our intention is to put at least one translated copy of this book into the hands of evangelical Christian pastors throughout the former Soviet Union, but we need your help.

Our goal is to reach 10,000 churches with this beautifully published hardback copy of Allan Taylor’s book. That is certainly a God-sized task, but with His leadership we can do it together.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20
